Seek God’s Face First

We all have an order to our lives, don’t we? When we get up we have a routine and when we tackle different situations, we have a certain way that we do things. When you come to God, there is a method as well.

A method, you say? Yes, God has order to His life and, as a father, He wants to teach order to His children. If you are a parent then you know what I am talking about.

God is not necessarily hard to understand, but many people have such strong misconceptions that they blame Him when they don’t get what they want.

Let’s begin at the beginning. God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. That means we must meet Him where He resides. So, in order to worship Him or communicate with Him in spirit, we need His spirit within us. But, we’ll get back to that in a minute.

Realize this: God is not a genie. When we want something He doesn’t just show up to grant our wish. He does all of the work and we get none of the responsibility. Sounds good? Wrong!

If you have ever watched your kids or the kids of your friends, they don’t take very good care of things that they didn’t sweat and toil over. When you have a personal stake invested, then you take better care of those things. There is a lesson here and God is all about lessons that help us to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

If you are treating God like your own personal genie, then you have missed the point of the relationship process and are selling yourself short. God is loving, caring, powerful, protective, prosperous, loyal and a good listener. There are many other awesome characteristics but there is not room here to record them all.

God wants to get to know you and desires for you to understand Him. When you do, He can show you the deepest reaches of Himself. The revelations will bless your soul and your life.

As humans, there is something innately lacking in our lives. It is the place where God is supposed to reside. That missing puzzle piece is returned to its space when we give our lives back to Him. That starts by asking Him to come into your heart. That invites the Holy Spirit to come into your life and get to work on your life from the inside out.

You might say that you need help with a problem right away and that is what God is for, but you couldn’t be farther from the truth. God knows everything that you need in your life. He wants us to talk to Him about it because it shows that we trust our issues to Him.

But, remember what we said about how you view something that you have a vested interest in? When God helps you to solve your problems you learn. He is to be your first stop when you have a problem and not the last resort. We always encounter many more problems than we needed to when we do that.
